Cocktail ParTEA: Purple Rain & Rum

Over the past month we have been sharing with you a series of tea based cocktails. This is the last of our cocktail recipes (for the moment) and it doesn’t disappoint – this is a cocktail fit for THE Prince made with Bluebird Tea Co’s Purple Rain.

A blend made with Darjeeling black tea, hibiscus and mallow flowers, it is reminiscent of Parma Violets -so its a little like marmite – you either love it or you hate it and we loved it! This blend paired beautifully with white rum for a punchy, full of flavour cocktail..

Here’s how we made it..

Ingredients; Purple rain loose leaf tea, white rum, lemonade, ice, foliage!

Method;

  • Steep six teaspoons of tea to 30cl of rum, we made this nice and strong so the flavour of the tea could take the centre stage! Steep for at least 12 hours.
  • Pour 25ml of tea infused rum over ice in a tumbler.
  • Top up with lemonade depending on how strong you like your drink.
  • Add some foliage!
  • Enjoy!

We hope you have enjoyed our series of tea infused cocktails as much as we enjoyed making (and drinking) them! Let us know if you’ve made any of your own tea based cocktails or mocktails!
