Let's go Somewhere

Wanderlust Wishlist

Here in the south of England summer is continuing to tease us with its arrival, one day it is bright and sunny and the next its chilly, windy and dull. This is only exacerbating our longing to throw some clothes in a backpack and hit the road. Hence this month’s wishlist – Wanderlust.

Vietnam is a country which the more I read about it the more I want to immerse myself in it for a month or so! After being subjected to three decades of war not so long ago this beautiful country is often overlooked when planning travels. However after just a little research is easy to see how much this beautiful part of the world has to offer.

From beautiful mountain rangesto unspoiled beaches and coves, Vietnam not only has a diverse landscape but also a rich history and culture. Top things to do in Vietnam include taking in Sapa’s dramatic scenery, waterfall chasing, visiting the bustling flower markets in Hanoi, paying homege to the breath taking marble mountains in Hanoi and exploring the cave riddled Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

I have a slight obsession with Nordic culture and one of my last big holidays was to Finland (although this was around 7 years ago…) . I’ve been longing to visit Sweden, especially travelling to the city of Stockholm, often described as Venice of the north with it’s 13th century cathedral and 14 islands connected with 57 bridges. The country has a mix of scenic beauty, frozen wetlands and city harbour-side elegance.

I’m already planning a trip to the wonderful city of Stockholm and on my itinerary is visiting the museums, especially Moderna Museet the City’s modern art gallery featuring works by Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Francis Bacon to name a few, the stunning architecture of the City Hall and a walk across the green island of Djurgarden. There are also plenty of trendy cafe’s to go for a “fika” (a slightly difficult to translate phrase meaning to meet up for a coffee and a piece of cake or pastry). I can’t wait!

There are so many other places on our bucket lists we would love to explore, check out our travel Pinterest board to see more…
