You may have noticed much of this month has been taken up with Ten Days of Tea Shirt where we introduced independent business Tea Shirt and some of the beautiful teas they produce! Our favourite tea had to be Topkapi, a real stand-out blend! If haven’t had a chance to read the series yet, you can do so here.
Apart from drinking copious amounts of tea we made… ACTUAL CLOTHES using patterns by sewing-extraordinaire Tilly and the Buttons and were extremely proud (can you tell?).
We spent June… trying not to to buy everything from our Summer Style Inspiration boards (one of us failed at this miserably!).
We also went to JOY Festival… This boutique festival held in Lewes is a summer celebration of Sussex creatives, bringing together a whole range of designer-makers, delicious street food, live music and creative workshops.
Highlights for us at JOY were… That little bull terrier in the tepee, seriously it was so adorable! PRICK‘s cactus stall also had us ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ at all the gorgeous plants and wall hangings. We were kicking ourselves later on for not buying everything! (We will be back!)
Lotus Floral Art wowed us as we sheltered in their stall from the typically English summer rain, we adore their original and whimsical creations. Just look at that Succa arrangement!
This lovely boutique festival was full to the brim with vintage style food trucks and vans. Vintage Scoops and Brighton Gin were both had gorgeous van’s and The Vegan Burger Bar offered up a whole variety of delicious vegan treats, their cheese burger was delicious!
Our festivities at JOY were followed on by a little road trip to Tunbridge Wells and an afternoon of retail therapy. We took the opportunity to refuel with tea at Bluebird Tea Co‘s Tunbridge Wells store. Becca had a Earl Grey Latte and Kate had the Red Velvet Latte (with Almond milk) and this pretty pink latte was pretty much cake in a cup – it was phenomenal! These gorgeous little Love Inc candles kept popping up all over the place, their little quotes had us enthralled and will be adding some to our candle collections in the near future!
We treated ourselves to dinner at Zizzi and should say bravo to their vegan menu, the pizza was great and the superfood salad really tasty. We also had to try something from their summer cocktail menu as they all just looked amazing!
We finished of the day at the Sussex Arms celebrating an album launch. Something we haven’t really mentioned here is that our husbands are in a band, Mechanical Monkey. They have been working on an album for the past 6 months or so and we are really proud of what they have achieved! You can check out their album, Ambition Impossible here.
