With summer still deciding if it has arrived yet, we’ve had plenty of time to get our warmer weather wardrobes in order! Here we have put together the inspiration behind some of the key pieces we’ll be buying and trends we’ll be trying this season…
1 – Ecote Guinevere Dress £46 2 – Topshop Cactus Blouse £28 3 – Kassinka Blog 4 – Star Mela Bag £45 5 – Free People Leggings £68 6 – Aday Sports Bra £55 7 – Asos Kimono Dress £40 8 – Free People Earrings £148 9 – Free People Ring £450
Kate: With the unpredictability of the British weather so far this year (and every other year) versatility is of the utmost importance for me. I want clothes I can enjoy and wear, not sit gathering dust in my wardrobe waiting for those one or two scorching days that crop up and disappear before you know it! Along with this my little wardrobe hasn’t the space for items that don’t get worn.
This season I have really enjoyed picking out a few key pieces with beautiful prints that can be easily teamed up and layered with other items. Ecote (1) always do beautiful mini dresses/tunics that can see you through the year with the addition of a pair of boots and a jacket, likewise this ASOS wrap dress (7) can take you from beach cover-up to evening-wear with a coat of lippy.
Topshop are sporting a strong shirt game this season and this cactus print (2) number ticks all the boxes. The boxy fit goes beautifully with a pencil skirt for work and goes equally as well with some shorts for play.
One of the main accessories you will see me sporting this season is a head full of braids (3) adding a touch of viking to any look and simply undo them for soft waves for a night out. Kassinka is a fantastic source for braidspiration! Sticking with a bohemian vibe, Star Mela are experts in creating relaxed beach ready items and I would happily have this lovely beach bag (4) carry my sun cream and book on holiday.
Current styles don’t have to just be for day-wear. With the warmer weather making hot yoga even hotter it is essential to stay cool whilst working out, these print leggings (5) and Aday sports bra (6) do just that.
Finally, finishing off any look is easy with Free People’s jewellery (8 & 9), they may be a little on the pricey side but these pieces will compliment any outfit year after year!
1 – ASOS PINAFORE DRESS £18 2 – sEASIDE nECKLACE £19 3 – warehouse SILK BIRD PRINT dress £70 4 – & oTHER STORIES SANDALS £39 5 – anthropologie kimono £68.95 6 & 7 – Sarah Brown Earrings and ring 8 – & other stories Herbarium tote £29 9 – Urban outfitters bralette £22
Becca: I’ve always wanted to be able to carry off a pair of dungarees but never felt I could – this pinafore dress (1) however is super cute, easier to pull off and only £18 in the ASOS sale! This seashell necklace (2) reminds me of summers as a child spent at my Grandparent’s house by the sea, collecting seashells and making them into necklaces.
I’m surprised Kate didn’t choose this silk bird print dress (3) for her board but maybe I saw it first… The silk fabric makes this dress look really expensive and Warehouse have really upped their print game this year – I really want everything in their summer print collection!
As soon as it gets into the summer seasons I put away all my boots and even when it rains I’ll be wearing sandals. I love the style of these & Other Stories cross strap sandals (4) and want a pair in every colour. When it gets cooler I’ll be wearing a kimono (5) to cover up as there is something so elegant about the style – they can dress up any outfit.
I’ve completely and utterly fallen in love with Sarah Brown’s stunning nature-inspired jewellery. This seaweed ring (7 – £142) and earrings (6- £109) are probably my favourites from her current collection (although I love all the pieces). & Other Stories also have some amazing nature-inspired summer prints and I found it hard to choose between their coral printed clutch or the herbarium tote (8) but in the end the tote won as it has space for all my books, ipad, (and any shopping purchases I might make along the way…). Finally this bralette from Urban Outfitters (9) is super comfy and can be worn with racerback tops for no sign of annoying straps.
