Monthly round-up: May

With the weather getting warmer and the days nice and long we’ve been spending lots of time outdoors. When we find a spare moment we’ve been searching for inspiration for our homes, populating our indoor jungles and prepping for the warm weather with home-made products.

We’ve been making… DIY  body scrubs with tea! It’s so easy to make your own scrub simply using ingredients from your kitchen, and it only takes five minutes to do. See our favourite scrub recipes here.

We’ve been drinking… Mint green tea as part of our hunt for the perfect blend. All the blends we tried were delicious but in the end Birdhouse’s Botanical Garden blend won our taste-buds over with this mix of organic sencha, peppermint & spearmint.

We went to… The City Garden installation. Having seen some of the photos of Rebecca Louise Law’s installation on Instagram, we just had to go! Inspired by gardens and green spaces in the City of London, The City Garden is a site specific installation for Guildhall’s new gallery, The City Centre. It’s worth a visit for the floral scent alone!

As part of the exhibion there is a planned walk you can do around the 34 gardens, following the route on a printed map or iPhone app. As it was such a beautiful day we happily wandered along some of the route and visited several of the gardens, all of which are glorious escapes from the hustle and bustle of the City. We also popped in to Pret on our way back to the station and tried their iced green tea with grapefruit and pomegranate – a great alternative to an iced latte!

We hope you’ve all had a wonderful May and been able to spend some time in the sunshine! Don’t forget you can follow us on Instagram for more updates throughout the month @bugsandbirds.
