War Paint-Top Picks

When we started this blog we had no intention of entering the realms of beauty blogging however we thought we’d share a few of our beauty and make-up staples with you from two gals to another…

Bugs: I have recently changed up my make-up and beauty regime in the hope that my skin will clear up enough to go completely foundation free for the summer! For the time being I’ve has opted for Bare Minerals Bare Skin Foundation as I recently tried a tester and fell in love instantly. The colour match is perfect and it feels so light when it goes on. The foundation provides a light coverage (you may need some concealer for those blemishes) and doesn’t look cakey or like you’re wearing a heavy base.

In an effort to improve my skin she starts with B. Prepared Anti Blemish primer from Superdrug. If you haven’t tried this range you really should! Their high-end make up is fantastic and all cruelty free. This primer leaves my skin super soft in preparation for foundation and also clears up my blemishes at the same time!

Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara is one that I keep going back to. The brush is one of the best out there, it really separates your lashes and lasts all day.

Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Red Door Red is a staple and really lasts all day, through lunch and even several cups of tea. The packaging is so lovely too!

This Ciaté nail polish actually came free with In Style magazine and has become one of my favourite colours. It’s the  perfect mix of grey with a purple edge that makes it sophisticated and fun! It also lasts really well with all the typing I do during the day so I will definitely be buying it again.

Birds: Not being one for heavy make-up I have been on the lookout for something light to give me that flawless look without feeling like I am wearing make-up, basically I want my skin to look amazing but I hate putting anything on it! I first found out about Lush Colour Supplement when I saw Le Need mention it on her instagram feed, basically saying she wanted to improve her skin but still needed a little something to even out the skin tone. This is exactly what I had been after and this product does not disappoint. I mix around one part colour supplement to two parts of my daily moisturiser with a make-up brush on the back of my hand and then apply to my skin. This evens out my skin-tone and with a bit of powder on top gives a matte finish which lasts me throughout the day. For days where my skin needs a little extra help I simply up the coverage by adding more colour supplement to less moisturiser. This product also gives a light finish, leaving your skin feeling great – not weighed down or ‘claggy’ like some products. There is also the added benefit of this product being by Lush – therefore cruelty free and made with natural ingredients.

Keeping your skin moisturised at this time of year can be a battle so I make sure I use this Vitamin E moisture mask twice weekly, I tend to pop it on after I remove make make-up in the evening and leave it on overnight to work its magic. This is a product by Superdrug and comes with a leaping bunny seal of approval which earns it extra thumbs up from me!

Seventeen Blusher cheek stamp in Blushing. This product actually came free when I bought some Seventeen Nail Polish but is such a lovely colour it will be a repeat purchase. This colour gives a lovely dewy glow when used with the Lush Colour Supplement.

Every lady needs the perfect red lippy in her arsenal and it took forever for me to find the perfect shade for me however I got there in the end with Mac’s Lady Danger . This lipstick has a soft matte finish and lasts all night.

Finally I just had to include my favourite lip balm, by Benefit sadly this Dr Feelgood lipbalm has been discontinued which is such a shame because it left my lips so soft throughout winter. Bring it back Benefit!!!
