Bluebird Tea Co Mixology Evening

Recently we were lucky enough to make it along to our favourite tea shop for one of their super successful tea mixology evenings. Bluebird Tea company opened its first shop in Brighton lanes about a year and a half ago and has had such success they have opened another in nearby Tunbridge Wells to spread their tea love even more!

They regularly run tea mixology and blending workshops to give tea fans a little insight into the process of creating their delicious tea blends.

We were welcomed in and invited to try the custom tea cocktails or anything we fancied from the menu, Bugs started with a boozy Apple Strudel latte and Birds opted for a Mojitea Daquari.

After learning about Bluebird’s history and  the different types of tea we were invited to try a range of teas ranging from herbal through to proper builders tea to find what we liked best. Its safe to say Birds can’t convince Bugs how amazing camomile is and Birds likes any tea so long as it isn’t traditional builders tea!

One of the great things about Bluebird’s teas are that they taste just as good as they smell. We have found that so many herbal teas fail in this area and whilst having beautiful vibrant aromas they often  severely lack in the taste department.

After trying all the teas it was time ….. for more tea! Bugs had a Christmas Cake Latte and Birds had a Snowball Latte made with almond milk (it was heavenly)

Now for the exciting part, we had the opportunity to make our very own tea blends from a range of ingredients.

It was hard to narrow it down to a few select flavours, in the end Birds made three combination:

  • Lebkuchen tea with mate tea, cardamon, cinnamon, cloves, cacao.
  • A green tea with cacao and peppermint.
  • A white tea with camomile, rose and peppermint.

Bugs made a mixture of different chai blends (due to her love of cinnamon):

  • Gunpowder chai with green tea, cardamon, cinnamon, cloves.
  • Peppermint choc-chai with cacao nibs, cardamon, cinnamon, cloves
  • A white tea with rose and cinnamon (which is actually a take on Bluebird’s All Things Nice tea without the liquorice).

After we had mixed our blends we had a chance to peruse the shop, do a spot of Christmas shopping and have another cup of tea, Birds had a cup of Coffee Pu’erh whilst Bugs had an Earl Grey Creme latte with almond milk.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Becky and Liz at Bluebird for making us delicious drinks all night, answering all our questions and being patient whilst we took forever deciding which teas to buy!

Don’t forget our 25 days of tea competition is running until Christmas Day! Enter to win a bag of our favourite tea by posting a photo of your favourite cup of tea, tag and follow us and tag 25 days of tea!
